TBC Racing’s racing teams have a reputation and history as one of the top programs in the nation. Our alumni have not only rowed at top university programs after graduation but we have many who go on to National Team careers including competing in the Olympic Games.
Goals:
Our racing team focuses on our core values and instilling these in every athlete
- dedication
- grit
- sportsmanship
- teamwork
- safety
- fun!
Through these values, we teach athletes to push themselves physically beyond what they ever imagine they can accomplish.
Each athlete should show up ready to work, learn, and go fast.
Through a safe, competitive environment, we see athletes grow in both maturity and strength, leading to the teamwork and dedication required of National Champion crews.
Squad Divisions
Opens
The Open racing team merges fun and competitiveness into a program designed for post college rowers looking to continue to advance their strength, technique and training. We break the team into training cohorts for those looking to race at the highest levels, or those looking to simply enjoy the sport of rowing post college. Our member range in age from 19-65. The Open group competes at the Open or Club level at regattas throughout the year.
U23's
For athletes currently in college, this program focuses on providing you the opportunity to return to school in top condition, while having a FUN summer meeting new teammates from around the globe.
U19's
For athletes who will be 18 or younger on December 31st of the current year. These athletes are currently in high school or recently graduated.
U17's
Our youngest division, this program accommodates any athlete who will be 16 or under on December 31st of the current year.
The Select program's goals are to increase your technical expertise and overall fitness.
For the U17 Select athletes, this program is an opportunity to start the path towards competing and training at a higher level program.
Program goals will increase your technical expertise and overall fitness, with a focus on stroke mechanics and understanding of physical work required at a varsity level. The Developmental squad will compete at local regattas throughout every season. This program is also ideal for athletes who have other commitments during the season but want to stay active with rowing.
An evaluation period will occur during the first two weeks of every season. This will include on-the-water evaluations of skill and strength as well as erg testing. At the conclusion of this evaluation period, athletes will be separated into the groups above, along with a dedicated coaching staff for each group, for the remainder of the season. This selection process will allow us to provide consistent and dedicated training at every level. It is possible that athletes will move between groups during the season but this is not the norm.
