TBC Racing U17 Boys and Girls Dominate at Independence Day Regatta, Bring Home Gold and Watches

Philadelphia, PA – July 4, 2025

TBC Racing made a commanding statement this weekend at the 2025 Independence Day Regatta in Philadelphia, with both its U17 Girls and U17 Boys squads capturing gold medals in their respective events. These victories mark a major milestone in the team’s summer racing campaign and earned the athletes the regatta’s signature prize—custom watches awarded to event champions.

Competing on the iconic Schuylkill River against top regional and national clubs, both crews demonstrated exceptional speed, discipline, and cohesion. The U17 Girls led wire-to-wire in a decisive final, crossing the line with clear water ahead of the field. Not to be outdone, the U17 Boys powered through a tight pack in the second half of their race to claim a thrilling victory. In the same U17 Girls event, TBC Racing also fielded a second entry, which delivered a strong performance and finished in third place, further showcasing the program’s depth.

“This was an exceptional weekend for TBC Racing,” said Head Coach Matt Russell. “To see both U17 crews on top of the podium—and to add a third-place finish in the same event—reflects the strength and dedication of our athletes across the board.”

TBC Racing also earned a bronze medal in the U19 Boys 4+, rounding out a weekend of impressive results. With a presence in nearly every sweep event final, the team reinforced its standing as one of the premier junior rowing programs in the region.

“These rowers are just getting started,” added Russell. “They’ve set the bar high, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.”
