Description
Program Details
TBC Racing provides several program options for both Junior Men and Junior Women, welcoming every experience level of athlete.
Competitive: The competitive team is broken into the following two groups based on skill level. We will have an evaluation period for the first 2-3 weeks of the season. This will include on-the-water evaluations of skill and strength as well as erg testing. Athletes will then be separated into the following groups, along with a dedicated coaching staff for each group, for the remainder of the season. This selection process will allow us to provide consistent and dedicated training at every level. Athletes may move between the groups in certain cases mid-season.
- High Performance: Program size: 18-20. Our most competitive level, for the top junior athletes of any age, focusing on high level training and racing regimes. Competitions include local racing, Head of the Schuylkill and the Head of the Charles regattas. At this advanced level, athletes must commit up front to practice and regatta attendance. Athletes are expected to be at practice 6 practices per week, and complete additional on your erg workouts. Selection for this group will be completed during the first two weeks of the season. See details on selection process below.
- Select: Program size: Open, divided in general by U17 and U19 age groups. Our traditional competitive level, perfect for returning high school aged, varsity level rowers . Program goals will increase your technical expertise and overall fitness as well as prepare athletes for a demanding winter and spring training plan. Competitions include local racing, Head of the James and the Head of the Schuylkill.
Novice: Program size: Open. This program is for those athletes who have not competed in a Spring racing season. This includes athletes who completed a Learn to Row program last Spring, Summer Camp this summer, or those who have never rowed before and are in High School. The group will be split up into experienced and never-ever rowers at the beginning of the season to progress through the development stages at the proper pace, eventually merging towards the end of the fall to race at the Tail of the Potomac all together. Note: Middle School students who have never rowed before can sign up for Discover Rowing for a 3-day a week experience or the Novice program for a 6 day a week experience.
Location: @Thompson’s Boat Center, 2900 Virginia Ave.
Annual Subscription Overview: How It Works
This registration covers all rowing seasons from Fall 2025 through Summer 2026.
-
Billing Structure:
-
An initial payment equal to one month’s tuition is due at registration.
-
Thereafter, eleven (11) monthly payments of $460 will be automatically charged on the 10th of each month, beginning October 10th.
-
This annual subscription reflects an approximate 15% discount compared to paying per season.
-
-
Subscription Term:
-
The subscription runs from September through August, covering Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer programming.
-
-
Racing Fees:
-
Regatta-related costs (travel, race entry, trailering, etc.) are not included in the subscription and will be billed separately at the start of each season.
-
-
Cancellation Policy:
-
If you choose to cancel your subscription during the year, you will be responsible for the full cost of the current season at the standard per-season rate.
-
Your final invoice will be prorated to reflect the total per-season cost for any completed seasons, minus the total amount already paid through monthly fees.
Example: If you cancel at the end of the Winter season (in February), your final invoice will reflect the total cost of Fall and Winter (e.g., $1800 + $1000 = $2800), less the amount you have already paid through your monthly installments.
