TBC Racing is the regionās premier competitive rowing program, with over 30 years of excellence on the water.
Our legacy is built on high-level training, teamwork, and the belief that great results come from dedication and shared effort. Weāre committed to making competitive rowing accessible to all youth athletes ā from those just discovering the sport to experienced rowers and coxswains striving for top performance. At TBC Racing, every athlete has the opportunity to grow, compete, and contribute to something bigger than themselves.
The Spring season is the primary competitive season for rowing, culminating in the USRowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida.
In addition to on the water training, weāre thrilled to provide access to our new year-round TBC Racing Training Center, located at 2600 Virginia Avenue in the iconic and historic Watergate building. This fully equipped, state-of-the-art facility provides our athletes with a dedicated space for strength training, erging, team meetings, and recovery throughout the entire year. More than just a training space, the new center gives TBC Racing a true homeāsupporting athlete development, fostering community, and allowing us to continue building excellence on and off the water.
New high school athletes will join the Racing Team as novices, training alongside experienced rowers while learning the fundamentals of competitive rowing. Novice athletes receive focused instruction in technique, fitness, and race preparation, while being fully integrated into team practices and cultureābuilding skills, confidence, and a strong foundation for long-term success on the racing team.
Practice Schedules:
Spring Training Schedule

- Practice Days/Times:

- Saturday:
⢠6:30ā9:00 AM (Girls)
⢠9:00ā11:30 AM (Boys)
Spring Break: We continue training throughout the spring break period. Because our athletes represent more than 50 different schools, we do not align with any single school calendar. High school athletes are expected to train during their individual spring breaks ā consistent attendance in March and April is critical for both personal development and team readiness heading into championship racing.
Nationals: The USRowing Youth National Championships includes categories for U16, U17, and U19 athletes. In 2024, TBC Racing fielded boats in each of these age groups ā including athletes as young as 12 who had just learned to row in the spring and competed at Nationals by June! Families should plan for the spring season to extend through June 15, 2026 , with travel home from Florida on June 16. If your athlete will not be available for Nationals, please inform the coaches early in the season so that lineup planning for both Mid-Atlantics and Nationals remains consistent.
Spring Race Schedule:
We aim to enter enough boats for every available athlete to race at each regatta, except where selections apply. In cases of uneven athlete numbers, we make every effort to ensure all athletes have at least one racing opportunity at each regatta, though this may not always be possible.
Race Fees:
For budgeting purposes, race fees for the spring regattas that involve team travel (excluding Kingās Cup, San Diego, and Youth Nationals) will total approximately $1,000. This cost includes bus transportation, hotels, regatta entry fees, trailering, and team dinners. These fees will be billed directly as we approach regatta season in March.
Kingās Cup, San Diego, and Youth Nationals will be billed separately and typically range from $1,000ā$1,500 per trip, covering airfare, hotels, regatta fees, trailering, and related travel expenses. Kingās Cup will be on the lower end of this range, as the team will travel by bus rather than by air.
