Tom Cosgrove

Associate Head Coach

Tom is Associate Head Coach at TBC Racing and is entering his fifth year working with TBC Racing.  Tom’s role is paramount to the success of TBC Racing and provides a unique value to our athletes and coaches. Tom’s primary focus is making sure that the coaches are equipped with knowledge and resources to effectively perform their own duties as coaches.  Focusing on professional development at every level of the coaching spectrum, Tom serves as an important mentor to younger coaches and dedicates his time to finding valuable opportunities for learning for all levels of our coaching staff.

In addition, for the last five scholastic seasons, Tom has led St. Albans School’s Freshman as the Head Freshman Coach. Tom has spent 13 years dedicated to developing novice rowers at programs across the area, including seven years at Gonzaga College High School, where he was on staff during record-tying streak of 5-straight Men’s Varsity Eight Stotesbury Cup Regatta wins. During his career, Tom has also served as an Assistant Coach on Georgetown University’s lightweight men’s program; and as Freshman men’s coach at Walt Whitman High School. All of these engagements have led to achievements by his crews at major regattas including finals at Stotesbury and medals at National Championships.

Tom began rowing at Gonzaga High School and attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland where he was captain of the Varsity Basketball team. He graduated from St. Mary’s with a degree in economics in 2009.

In addition to coaching, Tom works for FMI, The Food Industry Association in Arlington, VA and enjoys his office’s view of the river.
