Coach Tylander is currently the U17 Women’s Head Coach and Assistant Open Women’s Coach at TBC Racing. During the scholastic seasons he serves as the Varsity Men’s Coach at W.T. Woodson, where he has been the program’s Head Coach since 2014.

Coach Tylander has been coaching rowing for 27 years, with all but two years of that dedicated to the development of DC area high-school rowing. In addition to years spent at TBC Racing and W.T. Woodson, his tenure includes coaching at Wilson High School where he won All-Met Coach of the Year; West Springfield; and Potomac Boat Club. Coach Tylander has coached numerous programs to area and national championships, and served as a development team coach for US Rowing.

Coach Tylander started his rowing career as a coxswain at West Potomac HS and continued through college as a lightweight rower at the University of Kansas where he was named Oarsman of the Year and continued to be involved as a Freshman/Novice coach after his own graduation.

When not coaching, Tylander spends spends his time with his wife and two children, and teaches AP Statistics at W.T. Woodson.
