ABOUT TBC RACING

DC's premier rowing club for youth and adult rowing at every level.

TBC Racing is a highly competitive rowing club for youth, high-school, and adult athletes in the Washington, DC area.  Developing out of the competitive programs from the Thompson Boat Center, our competitive rowing program began in 1994, when a dedicated group of Junior Men wanted a place to row year-round, as an addition their high school based programs.  Through the 90’s the program expanded to include Junior Women and has only grown since then.  The club was named a US Rowing Development Camp in 1999.  During the early 2000’s, Open Men and Women were added to the competitive offerings.  The program has competed under several different flags over the years including Washington Area Rowing and Water Street Rowing, and finally TBC Racing since 2017 when we fully separated operationally from the Thompson Boat Center.

Now TBC Racing is home to over 750 competitive rowers of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds.  Having won numerous National Championships, Canadian Henley events and the Head of the Charles Regatta, TBC Racing is happy to be a home to the area’s best athletes of today and the future, and to work in partnership with area high schools and colleges to promote the sport of rowing.
